I’m currently on a well-deserved holiday in the sun but of course as a dedicated photographer, I couldn’t very well leave home without my trusty Canon G11 camera! I’m driving hubby mad - not so much with the piccie-taking but the post-processing and blogging - “We’re on holiday, for heaven’s sake, can’t you leave that alone…..” etc etc! Consequently, here I am at 7am on Saturday morning, getting this post ready while he snores softly.
Hope you enjoy! The first image is from the Blue Springs State Park which has the St. John’s River running right through it. Blue Springs is a designated Manatee refuge and the winter home to a growing population of West Indian Manatees. The map you see here is hanging up inside the Thursby House, which was built by Leo Thursby. He and his family settled near Blue Spring in 1856 - prior to that, the area had been inhabited by Native Americans. The second image is of one of Florida’s indigenous trees.
Here are some images from Old Town in Kissimmee, which is first and foremost a tourist spot but it hosts many events during the week - two classic car parades with the biggest old American cars you’re ever likely to see and on Thursday evenings, a bike night. Most of the bikes are Harley Davidsons, but others creep in too…..I love looking at the different ways the owners have customised their rides…..
This grenade was attached to the rear of the rider’s saddle - the whole bike was dedicated to the US Army…
Who let the scooter boy in here…..?
Hands up who dances like this…..come on, you know who you are!
