Sorrento, Italy and a few days off!

I was lucky to have a few days free a week or so ago and after the nasty winter in the UK, Brian and I decided to hop over to the Amalfi coast in Italy for a few days of warm sunshine and glorious landscapes - and it didn’t disappoint!

Travelling around we visited Positano, Pompeii, Amalfi, Sorrento and the beautiful island of Capri, which looks spectacular when viewed form the top of the cliff - 2000 feet up! To get there, a ride on the chair lift is needed and it’s maybe the scariest thing I’ve done in my life! (However, I have a helicopter ride to get to a wedding booked in later this year which I’m sure will make the chair lift look like child’s play).

Here are some images taken on my trusty Canon (what else?) Powershot S90 camera, from our fantastic Italian adventure…

Your Herts/Beds Wedding magazine featuring Steph and Paul’s wedding

In the same week as being featured in a national wedding magazine (see previous post), I have the honour of having a stunning couple of mine featured both on the cover and inside the latest issue of Your Herts/Beds Wedding magazine. Steph and Paul’s glorious autumn wedding at The Comper Chapel is showcased and it looks absolutely stunning - the cover was MADE for them, don’t you think? Chuffed!

Wedding Flowers magazine featuring Jen and Matt’s wedding

It’s fantastic when you have weddings featured in magazines, whether regional or national, and it’s even better when the magazine approaches you before the wedding has even been shot, asking if they can feature it!

I was at the RocknRollBride party in August last year, when Julia Ford (the Art Editor for Wedding and Wedding Flowers magazines) approached me and mentioned that she followed Jen’s bi-weekly column on the RockMyWedding blog, where she wrote about the lead-up to her wedding day and what she and Matt had planned for it. Julia asked if her magazine could have the wedding to feature in a future issue and I was delighted to agree - faaaast forward a few months - the wedding has been and gone, Jen’s about to give birth to her and Matt’s first child and along comes the issue of Wedding Flowers with Jen and Matt’s wedding inside! CHUFFED!

Berlin - a pre-wedding shoot with Gemma and Jonathan

I met Gemma and Jonathan last year to chat about their wedding and during the conversation, they mentioned that although getting married in a beautiful little village in Hertfordshire, they live and work in Munich. I jokingly suggested we could do their pre-wedding shoot there and that thought must have remained in their heads because when they contacted me in January to book their pre-wed, they asked if I would fly out to Berlin, where they first met. They didn’t need to ask me twice - I have been to Berlin once before (to see german band Rammstein) and there is nothing I don’t like about the city - it’s fantastic!

I asked my friend and fellow photographer David McNeil if he’d like to come over with me as a travelling companion and to get some shots of his own and together we recced most of the city (or so it felt - David walks, like, REALLY FAST)! We also enjoyed a lunch of pretzels and butter, currywurst with frites and beer, followed by apple strudel and warm vanilla sauce….absolutely delicious!

Anyway, here is the shoot and it wouldn’t be right to go to Berlin and not include some shots of the remaining sections of the wall, which are now art installations in their own right - stunning!

Grand Union Canal - Sam and Chris’ pre-wedding shoot

Here’s a pre-wedding shoot I did with Sam and Chris last weekend, along the beautiful grand Union Canal near their home in Rickmansworth.

The light was quite dull when we started but as usual, it brightened up as we went so all spring the colours started to come alive!

Sam and Chris get married at Fanhams Hall Hotel later this year and if these images are anything to go by, they’re both (especially Sam) going to look stunning! Enjoy…

Pembroke Lodge - Gemma and Dylan’s pre-wedding shoot in London

Well, after a manic 2010, a Christmas and New Year that flew by, another manic month designing new sample albums and getting my tax return done - I finally had the chance to get out and do what I love most - photographing people! I met up with Gemma and Dylan last week and we went to Pembroke Lodge, which is situated within the beautiful Richmond Park in west London. I love the park - as we arrived, a herd of deer went trotting past us no more than 10 metres away - where else in London could you experience that?

The daffodils were in full bloom and as Gemma is Welsh, I thought they enhanced the shoot very well. Although the weather was dull, it was quite warm and it really felt like Spring had arrived - it was great to be ‘back in the saddle’ as it were - enjoy these images.

(There’ll be two more pre-wedding shoots featured here this week - one of which took place in Berlin - so check back to see!)

First look - Charlotte & Lester at Northbrook Park

Well, what can I say about this wedding? There was a blizzard in the morning and I had to abandon my car halfway up the venue’s driveway! Northbrook Park is a beautiful place but there were so many hitches on the day, caused by the snow - sadly, many guests were either late and missed the ceremony or didn’t make it at all and the caterers only arrived at the last minute but still valiantly managed to get all the food cooked in time for the wedding breakfast! Northbrook Park were also having power problems that day, so the meal was held in the Vine Room in candlelight, which made it look even more Christmassy!

Here’s a first look at some of Charlotte and Lester’s images…

Charlotte and Lester’s pre-wedding shoot in Twickenham, London

A quick one today, as Charlotte and Lester get married tomorrow at Northbrook Park in Surrey and I haven’t yet blogged their beautiful autumnal pre-wedding shoot!

We did this a few weeks ago when the weather was much kinder (warmer) and the colours were fanatstic. They live in Twickenham so that’s where we wandered around - there was a massive England v New Zealand rugby match on at the stadium that day (which England lost - boo!) so it was teeming with people in Twickenham and all along the Thames but we found some lovely spots out of the way.

First look - Abbie and Matt at Tuddenham Mill, Suffolk

This was my third wedding at t’Mill in two months - it’s such a beautiful place to get married and have a great party, even when it IS freezing cold as it was last Friday when Abbie and Matt tied the knot! They also booked my photobooth, which was the most succesful one I’ve ever done and I didn’t stop shooting from start to finish! Shots from that are yet to come - Abbie and Matt’s guests - be warned!

First up, Abbie’s absolutely gorgeous Jenny Packham dress…
